Description:

This is the classic Tuisarkhan design and this rug is one of the best of its type.

The features of this design group include the following.

There is a single lozenge or hexagonal medallion with attached arrow shaped pendants on a rich, indigo field.

The field is decorated with an expansive floral vine motif.

There is cockscomb edging on the central medallion and spandrels.

The main border has a barbed rope loop design.

On the best examples, the wool is outstanding.

And, as seen here, there is an effective use of a light green color.

Condition:
The condition is nearly perfect. The pile is full and complete with no evidence of wear or damage.

Warps:

Cotton, natural ivory with no displacement (depression).

 
Wefts:

Cotton, natural. There is one weft between each row of knots.

Symmetrical

 
Sides:

Five warps are bundled into one cord. The cord is wrapped with blue wool. This wrap is not original.

 
Ends:

Original end construction has been lost but both ends are stabilized and there is no loss of pile.

 
Handle:

Very firm, substantial.
