This yastik has the nearly square dimensions that are typical of many weavings from the Mucur-Kirsehir region.
The design elements are indigenous to yastiks of the region. In some examples, these elements are rendered in a geometric form and in others they appear in a more floral manner.
Whether geometric or floral, there are several unifying design features in the group.
1. The central medallion is octagonal and nearly square.
2. There are bud forms extending from each side.
3. Hook motifs extend into the central medallion as well as the field.
4. Extremely angular saf leaves bracket the central medallion.
The colors are from all natural dyes and have the range and intensity typical of the finest, old weavings of the region. The vibrant palette includes rose red, a mid-range red, pink, purple, light blue, green, peach and apricot.
Condition: Fair. There is loss of pile on the sides and ends. There are areas of wear. |
