Description

The finest textile art produced by the Shahsavan weaver is visually characterized by a sense of motion.

This quality is achieved by a reciprocal action in the design composition.

In the composition, a design motif projects its own shape and it concomitantly projects an unrelated reciprocal design on its surroundings.

The border construct of this side panel illustrates the principal.

One design consists of multi-colored stars in the shape of a cross with two indented 'limbs' on a horizontal plain.

This design then projects an unrelated reciprocal design (a variation on the 'hour-glass' motif) on its surroundings (the ivory border ground).

A resultant sense of motion is created by the visual inter-play of the two designs.

Large diamonds are the prominent field motifs. These are displayed horizontally with an infinite repeat implication.

Half diamond shapes appear from the upper and lower borders.

The colors are from all natural dye sources.
