This primitive rug is formed by four narrow strips, not all the same length, joined together as one. Each strip was woven on a narrow, portable loom used by nomadic tribes of the region.
The field design consists of conjoined multi-colored diamonds on a vertical axis.
The dyes are of excellent quality and have aged well. There are no dye runs.
The blue-green is probably indigo sulphonic.
There is use yak, goat or camel wool in both the foundation and portions of the field.
Condition: Most of the pile is full. There are areas of pile loss, damage and minor wear. No repairs have been made to the rug and it is presented in ‘as found’ condition. |
