| Description |
This rug is formed by four narrow strips, not all the same length, joined together as one. Each strip was woven on a rather primitive horizontal loom, a loom-type more compatible to the nomadic life-style. The field design consists of conjoined multi-colored diamonds on a vertical axis. The dyes are strong and have aged very well. There are no dye runs or fading of the kind frequently seen in rugs of this style and period. The blue-green is probably a indigo sulphonic. There is considerable use of animal hair, possibly yak or camel, in the field.
Condition:
Most of the pile is long and full. There are small areas of wear along one side and a couple of places in the field. Due to the weaving style of these rugs, repairing these areas would not be costly. The rug is otherwise floor-worthy. |
