Description:

The primary field construct is a large serrated lozenge within which is a serrated octagon with smaller examples top and bottom. A variety of carefully executed, whimsical secondary motifs are distributed at both ends of the field.

There is a wide range of strong colors all from natural dyes. These include three shades of blue and shades of red which include a ruby-red and a mellow pink.

Condition: Excellent. Full, thick pile. No areas of pile wear, no moth damage or wear creases. The ends are slightly but symmetrically reduced. There are small areas of high-quality repairs made in Istanbul.

Structure:
 
Warps:
Wool, undyed, natural light brown, consisting of two thick, loosely plied strands. Z-spun. S-plied.
     
 
Wefts:
Wool, undyed, natural light - mid brown.
     
 
Knots:
Symmetrical. There is moderate to substantial warps displacement. The result is a rug with a heavy feel.
     
 
Sides:
Portions have been re-cast. Both the original and the replacement selvedge consists of two warps bundles.
