Description:

The ‘cane row’ design is a well-established member of the South Persian tribal design vocabulary.

It is, however, less frequently employed by Afshar weavers than perhaps those of the Qashqa’i.

This outstanding example was probably woven in a village workshop setting.

The field and border compositions have a colorful floral theme.

In the traditional of the best Afshar village work, the weave is exceptionally fine.

The design is executed with the precision of an experienced and highly skilled weaver.

The colors are from natural dye sources.  They are strong and deeply saturated.

The palette is wide ranging and well-coordinated.
