The field
medallion is one rarely encountered in the Shahsavan design
vocabulary. Variants of the crab-shaped star are imaginatively
employed within the central hexagon. Highly stylized animal
forms frame the medallion at the top and bottom. Multiple
borders, in the Khamseh tradition, frame the entire composition.
The colors are exceptional in their quality and range, three
reds, two blues, light green, blue-green, brownish-aubergine,
ivory, golden yellow.
Condition:
Very good. There are small, isolated areas of good quality
repairs.
