Description:

The field design consists of compartmentalized with each section containing a stepped medallion. This basic design format is very traditional in Anatolian rug and carpet weaving.

Several elements of this rug identify it as being very old and as being a non-commercial village product. The colors are from all natural dyes.  The range of color is outstanding.  With age these colors have developed a wonderful patina.

The format of the field design is essentially quite symmetrical. However, the weaver’s imaginative interpretation of these motifs together with a rustic quality inherent in a free-flowing weaving technique has result in a spontaneity not seen in later examples.
