Central Anatolian Rug
Sivas District

Size 3'11" x 7'7"
Date 1850-1875
Cat. No. 230
Description

The field is compartmentalized with each section featuring a traditional stepped medallion. This primary construct is quite traditional in Yoruk carpets but the weave in this rug is exceptionally fine with a pleasing symmetry of composition that avoids the clutter or predictability of later examples. The dyes have developed a mellow patina with age.
