Title Chajli Long Rug East Caucasus
Size 3’5" x 10'5"
Date Late 19th/Early 20th Century
Cat. No. 188
Description

The village of Chajli is situated between the weaving areas of Shirvan and Moghan. This rug deviates from the Chajli norm in several particulars. The typical 19th century rendering has a blue field. This one is red. By tradition, the Chajli field displays three octagons. This example has four complete and one half octagon, suggesting an infinite ascent on a vertical plain.

Condition: With areas of high quality restoration, the rug is in excellent condition.

Price $8500.00
