In Turkish, the word "yastik" means "pillow" or "cushion". Yastiks are typically used as covers for cushions and, on occasion, as storage bags. They are small weavings with a plain woven back and a decorative pile knotted or flat weave front. Many look like miniature rugs. The best references book on the subject is Brian Morehouse, Yastiks, Cushions Covers and Storage Bags of Anatolia (1996). |
